The following poems focus heavily on the idea of appearances juxtaposed with reality, which has always been an interesting conflict to me as by yielding to one, we must deny the other. However, it is by oscillating between appearances and reality that we can find satisfaction in this unsatisfying world; this arises because self-perception rarely, if ever, aligns with reality.  This disconnect is precisely why individuals try so hard to appear a certain way, for they can often find satisfaction through deceit.
